Print Newspapers in the 1960s and 2010s



1960s -
  • Newspaper circulation was very high by todays standers in 1960s 
  • The peak in the newspapers' circulation was in the early 1950s
  • In the 1965s the circulation of Sunday newspaper had dropped by 25 million, which meant their was 1.4 million per household. ( a fall from over 2 per household in the 1950s)
  • Meaning that it was common to buy more than one Sundays newspaper 
  • Was feared competition for other medias - like Tv for example 

2010s -
  • In the 2010s newspapers had dropped by 10 million, which means their was 0.4 per household 
  • You could access newspaper in printed copies or online as it can target a multitude of difference audiences 
  • With much less sense of loyalty to political parties or an identity based on class  
  • Daily express, The Times, Daily Telegraph and The Guardian
