Denotation - the literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests.

Connotation - an idea or feeling which a word invokes for a person in addition to its literal or primary meaning.

Denotation -

colour pallet 
-dark contrasts the evil.
-light contrasts the good. 
-colours in the bottom right (like green red and blue)   connotation Syfy genre 
-colours in the top left (like red and yellow)                  connotation action genre 
-colours in the top right (like black grey and blue)        connotation thriller genre  
-uses many different colours to show the genres used in the game and movie 
- blue and bright colours represent the hero and good people 
-red and dark colours represent the villain and the bad guys 



Connotations -

-poster is in 3D implying the lego bricks which are 3D popping out.
-bad guy towering over the people with dark colours to show he is evil.
-multiple genres in the film e.g action, Western, syfy....

film posters are released at different times and contain different information - just like the trailers 
Teaser posters come out first then a theatrical poster comes out second with much more information and dates the film would come out 
Movies with small budgets only have one teaser posters as they don't have enough money to make more.
