practice question -
how does the lego movie use intertextuality to represent different people in the target audience ?

The Lego move uses intertextuality to represent different members of the family target audience. the film is rated U which connotes the primary target audience is younger children while the secondary target audience is teenagers, parents and grandparents.

The primary target is young children, the intertextuality is more focused towards lego toys than anything else as the set props and people are Lego this appeals to young children as they play with Lego more than adults. also uses intertextuality such as Barbie, Robin Hood, and yetis (like in the new film Small Foot) as young children may have played or have some knowledge on the product or film.

The secondary focus of the Lego movie is for young audience members, they use intertextuality such as Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern and more. The audience members could also be reminiscing their child hood favourite toys and films as the movie has many similarities to other films they may have watched when they were younger. As well as it is very funny to watch super hero's as Lego characters.

Also the other secondary focus of the Lego movie is to parents and grandparents, they use intertextuality such as Matrix, Shakespeare, Superhero's, Star Wars and other films that came out around the 1950s. They could watch the Lego movie and reminiscing their younger days when they could have watched or had a toy that was put into the film that they could have had. As well as it might be funny to see old film references in the Lego movie with out giving it all away or making it the exact same.

In conclusion this film is postmodernist as it shows life around the last 70 years making it have history and modern day society. It concludes references from Lego, DC and uses many characters from blockbuster films like batman,
